Putin proposed to build nuclear power plants in the Far East
The Russian President said today (Thursday) at the Vladivostok Economic Forum that the Moscow government should think about building nuclear power plants in the Russian Far East.
According to Isna, the “Eastern Economic Forum” started on Tuesday and will continue until Friday. The conference is organized by the Far Eastern Federal University in the Russian coastal city of Vladivostok.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Far East has become Russia’s stronghold in the new global economic reality.
According to him, the future development of Russia largely depends on the development of the Far East, and this forum has become a platform for discussing the development strategy of Russia and the entire Asia-Pacific region.
More than a thousand contracts worth more than 10.5 trillion rubles were signed in the last three forums, Putin said, and Russia will improve the business climate in general and in the Far East, including for foreign investment. According to him, a new deep water port with the participation of Belarusian and Chinese companies may be built in the Far East of Russia.
The Russian president further noted: “I also want the Moscow government to think about building nuclear power plants in the Far East of Russia. This plan should consider both the current needs and the needs we foresee in the future among businesses and citizens. And of course, it should consider the long term.”
According to Sputnik, the Russian leader also said at the general meeting of the Eastern Economic Forum: “We see that trade relations, trade routes are shifting towards the East and South of the world.”
“Our Far East regions are a direct gateway to these promising and developing markets and allow us to overcome the obstacles that some Western agents are trying to impose on the world,” Putin added.
The Russian president also said: “Russia will expand its cooperation with foreign partners and strengthen the country’s position in the world.” Of course, we will expand relations between the Russian Far East and our entire country with foreign partners, friends; With governments and companies interested in reliable, long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation, which will lead to the continued strengthening of Russia’s position in the world.”
Ukrainian war
Putin continued to emphasize that the key to ensuring Russia’s security is strengthening its economic and military potential.
Referring to the war in Ukraine, the Russian leader said: “I believe that those who rule Ukraine are either aliens or foreigners. Apparently, they (Ukrainians) are not their people. In addition, Ukraine’s attacks on nuclear power plants are dangerous terrorist acts.
The Russian president continued: “You asked about the attacks on nuclear power plants in Kursk and Zaporizhia. These are risky and very dangerous acts of terrorism. Just imagine what will happen if our revenge is the same.”
According to Putin, Russian forces made significant gains in Donbas and inflicted heavy losses on Ukrainian forces in Kursk.
The Russian president said: “Russian forces accelerated offensive operations. There is no stopping our attack, on the contrary, the enemy is weakening in key areas. It’s been a long time since we’ve had significant gains like the last few days. The Russian armed forces must expel the enemy from Russian lands. Of course, the liberation of Donbass is the main priority of Russia. However, residents of Russia’s border areas are suffering from terrorist attacks in Ukraine. The number of our men who feel the need to defend the homeland has increased drastically. The enemy suffers heavy losses both in terms of personnel and equipment. “The data of the Ministry of Defense of Russia is reliable, which was confirmed by several sources at the same time.”
Putin also mentioned Durov’s detention for the first time. He says that he did not contact Pavel Durov, the owner of the Telegram messenger, and did not know that he was in Baku. Durov went to France from Azerbaijan and is currently in custody there. Putin said he thought Durov lived in Moscow.
