Trump’s claims about relations with 2 Koreas in his new book
The former US president claims in his new book that the meetings he held with North Korea’s leader during his presidency show that “real change” is possible.
According to RCO News Agency, “Donald Trump”, the former president of the United States and the presidential candidate of the Republican Party in the 2024 elections, made this claim in his picture book entitled “Save America” and strengthened the speculation that if he wins The US presidential election on November 5 will likely lead to the revival of personal diplomacy with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
Trump, who served his first term as president in the United States from 2017 to 2021, in his new book, which is to be published soon, also discussed his relations with the South Korean government and claimed to have established “excellent” relations with this Asian ally of Washington and for him. “It was very important to get Seoul to spend more money on the military sector.”
Trump wrote in his book, which is scheduled to be officially released on Tuesday: “Chairman Kim Jong Un has an opportunity like no other to be remembered as a leader who ushered in a glorious era of security and prosperity for his people.” “
The Republican presidential candidate added: “Our unprecedented meeting, the first meeting between a US president and a North Korean leader, proves that, in fact, real change is possible. My meeting with Chairman Kim was honest, frank and helpful. “We got to know each other very well in a very limited period of time.”
During his presidency, Trump made an unconventional effort to meet with the North Korean leader, resulting in three direct meetings with Kim Jong-un, the first of which was held in June 2018 in Singapore. However, after the meeting held by the American and North Korean leaders in Hanoi, Vietnam, no agreement was reached between Washington and Pyongyang and the Trump administration’s nuclear diplomacy towards North Korea came to a standstill.
In Trump’s book, a photo of him crossing the land border between North Korea and South Korea, known as the Military Demarcation Line, was published in June 2019. He did this after his trip to the border village of Panmunjom and became the first US president to do so.
At a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Friday, the former US president praised his action by crossing the demilitarized border between the two Koreas, saying, “I’m the first person to enter this country.”
He also claimed that it was a “good thing” that he “got along” with Kim Jong-un.
Donald Trump’s new picture book features a photo of him with South Korean President Moon Jae-in and the wives of the two former leaders during Trump’s visit to Seoul’s presidential palace in November 2017.
Trump also wrote in this regard: “I established a great relationship with South Korea, although it was very important to me that they start spending more on their military.”
During his presidency, Trump asked South Korea to significantly increase its share of paying for the deployment of 28,500 American troops in this country. His request was an example of what is called Trump’s “deal-oriented approach” towards America’s allies and had a negative impact on the relations between Washington and Seoul.
Trump’s new book is set to be released today as he and his 2024 Democratic challenger, Kamala Harris, are in a tight race among voters, according to polls.
Trump’s new book also contains images of his failed assassination attempt in July at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. He wrote that he survived the assassination and shouted to the crowd: “Fight, fight, fight.”
“Blood was pouring everywhere, and yet I felt very secure with the assurance that God was my protector,” he claimed.
