Putin’s assistant: America and its allies are fueling tensions on Russia’s borders
The aide to the Russian president said the United States is seeking to hinder Russia’s activity in the Arctic and build its military infrastructure in the northern regions and generally near Russia’s borders.
According to RCO News Agency, “Nikolay Patrushev”, the assistant of Russian President Vladimir Putin, said in an interview with the country’s “Rossiskaya” newspaper: “The United States and its allies are fueling tensions along our borders and continue to explore Russia’s defense potential.”
Putin’s aide continued: “Washington has started the path of militarizing the Arctic and hindering our economic activity in this region. There are calls in the West to close the Baltic Sea to our country and prevent access to the Atlantic Ocean through it.
Referring to the recent Washington-Tokyo exercises, Patrushev said: “The largest recent US-Japan naval exercise once again confirmed Tokyo’s refusal of pacifist ideology and adherence to the American strategy to increase tension in the Pacific Ocean.”
