Telephone conversation between Putin and Aliyev
The Kremlin Palace reported on Wednesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev discussed the results of Putin’s recent visit to Baku and the ongoing peace talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia during a phone call.
According to RCO News Agency, the Kremlin Palace announced that in this call, Putin emphasized Moscow’s readiness to help both countries to find mutually acceptable solutions to the remaining issues.
The visit of the Russian President to Azerbaijan on August 18-19 included talks with Aliyev on the preparation of a peace agreement, demarcation of borders and reopening of transport corridors, which led to the signing of several key agreements.
Putin also spoke with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on August 22 to discuss the normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan after his meeting with Aliyev.
Since 2022, Armenia and Azerbaijan are negotiating this agreement with the mediation of Russia, the United States and the European Union. In May 2023, Pashinyan announced that Yerevan is ready to recognize Azerbaijan’s sovereignty over Soviet-era borders, including Artsakh.
