New images of Neptune and Uranus show that the colors of these two planets are very similar to each other and are much brighter than conventional images.
According to Tekna technology and technology news service, before this, the planet Neptune was shown with a deep blue color and Uranus with a light blue and greenish color. But new research shows that these two planets are very similar in color and both have a light blue-green color.
The last images of these two planets were taken by the Voyager 2 spacecraft in the 20th century. This spacecraft captured images of these two planets in separate colors. Combined monochrome images and color images of these two planets were obtained. Of course, in these images, the correct combination of colors was not done and thus the real color of the two planets was not shown. Finally, the planet Neptune was also seen much brighter than the real color. The main reason for manipulating the color of these planets was to provide more clarity for details such as clouds, winds and atmospheric regions on these planets.
Astronomers were already aware of the color changes of these planets and their early images were also presented with descriptions of manipulated details. But the explanations related to these photos and the color manipulation of the planets were removed over time.
Now Oxford University researchers in their new study have developed a modeling for the true color of these two planets. In this method, the data related to the Hubble Space Telescope imaging spectrometer and the spectroscopic probe of the European Southern Observatory telescope were used. Each pixel is stored as a continuous color spectrum in these tools. This allowed scientists to process each pixel to identify the true colors of Uranus and Neptune. In this research, it was found that these two planets are very similar in blue-green color. Of course, Neptune is a little bluer, and the reason is the presence of a thinner fog layer in the atmosphere of this planet.
