Using MRI imaging and its new type with the help of artificial intelligence, researchers were able to record some disorders in social communication and repetitive behaviors such as autism.
According to Tekna technology and technology news service, early diagnosis of autism and effective intervention and support in this disease is very important. The researchers’ new artificial intelligence system can detect this problem between 24 and 48 months with 98.5% accuracy.
In this technology, weighted diffusion tensor MRI scans of the brain are used, in which a specialized technology is used and the way water moves along the white matter pathways in the body is determined.
Gregory Barnes, professor of neurology and director of the Autism Center in Louisville and one of the authors of this research, says: Autism is actually improper connections in the brain. On the other hand, the new MRI method can record these abnormal connections and identify disorders in social communication and repetitive behaviors of people with autism.
In this method, artificial intelligence collects imaging signals that show the strength of communication between different areas of the brain. This is done through a DT-MRI scan, where researchers can separate images of brain tissue. Then, with the help of machine learning, we can compare the marker patterns in the brains of autistic children with healthy brains and identify this disease.
