About the Immigration Medical Examination (IME)
If you intend to apply for permanent residence, you and your family members must undergo a medical examination. Even if your family members do not intend to immigrate with you.
You should note that your own doctor cannot perform a medical examination. Rather, you should choose one from the list of panel doctors, who are doctors approved by the Immigration Department, and go to him.
It is also good to know that in the case of medical examination, it is not the panel doctor who makes the final decision, it is the responsibility of the Immigration Department to make this decision. If your health condition is considered a threat to the public health or safety of Canada, or if it leads to excessive demand for health or social services in Canada, then the Immigration Department will not approve your application for permanent residence.
