Considering that the expiration date of the International Space Station is near, NASA plans to choose the construction of a new station and the departure of the current International Station from among the proposals presented by the companies.
According to Tekna technology and technology news service, NASA has prepared a separate plan for the departure of the International Space Station, which will expire at the end of this decade. NASA plans to take advantage of the proposals presented for the construction of a spacecraft for its use in guiding the International Space Station towards the atmosphere and burning it.
NASA and their other international partners on the International Space Station decided to use the space station until the end of this decade. In 2030, this station will no longer be able to safely host astronauts. The main problem is to remove this 100 ton structure from orbit in a safe way. Also, it is not possible to push this structure to transfer to a higher orbit. Because this structure may collapse due to high pressure. The only solution now is to take control of the station and steer it into the atmosphere. In this case, upon entering the atmosphere, it will burn and its remains will land as waste in an uninhabited and oceanic area.
Before this, the initial idea for this work was to use a cargo spacecraft belonging to Russia to push the station into the desired orbit. But according to NASA, this idea is not very practical and Russia leaving the International Space Station from 2028 can make this idea an unreliable method.
NASA asked the American space companies to develop a kind of orbiter so that it can be used in the final stage of exit when the space station and its orbit collapse.
