According to the Mehr news agency, citing the Palestine Information Ceer, the family of Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur on Palestinian human rights, filed a lawsuit against the administration of US Preside Donald Trump due to the imposition of sanctions against her.
According to this complai filed in one of the federal courts in Washington, Albanese’s wife and her young daughter have stated that the sanctions imposed last year because of his criticism of the policies of the Zionist regime in the war against Gaza violate the First Amendme of the American Constitution and have severely affected their family and professional life. In such a way that they have also lost the possibility of accessing their home in Washington.
According to “Guardian” newspaper, it is stated in the text of this petition that Albanese’s views on the developmes of the Palestinian conflict and the Zionist regime, as well as the activities of the Iernational Criminal Court, are within the framework of the freedom of speech guaraeed in the US Constitution.
This issue has been raised following the issuance of arrest warras by the Iernational Criminal Court against some Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Minister of War, Yoav Gala, on charges of war crimes.
Albanese is a member of a panel of selected experts of the United Nations Human Rights Council based in Geneva, whose mission is to investigate human rights violations in the Palestinian territories. He is a serious critic of the war in Gaza and has reported on the genocide in Gaza in his reports.
The United States imposed sanctions on Albanese last July after failing to remove him from his post at the United Nations. After the imposition of these sanctions, he announced that these actions had a negative impact on his personal life and assets in America, but despite the pressure, he coinued to publish his critical reports against the Zionist regime.
