According to RCO News Agency, citing Amirkabir University of Technology, Abbas Soroush said in the gathering of faculty members of the Faculty of Chemistry, referring to his rece visits to the faculties: These visits were very useful and we are trying to strengthen direct communication with the faculties through regular planning. The curre structure of the university, which has its roots in the 40s and 50s, is not suitable for the developme and responsibilities of the university today, and this issue has caused the iernal ieractions to decrease.
The preside of Amirkabir University of Technology emphasized the necessity of reviewing the manageme structure and strengthening the ieraction between the faculties and the university manageme, and said: One of the curre harms of the university is the reduction of effective communication between the headquarters and the ranks, which must be resolved.
He added: “University council meetings should be removed from one-sidedness and the participation of faculties in decision-making should be increased.” Increasing the number and quality of meetings can help strengthen convergence in the university.
Referring to the change in the structure of basic sciences in the university over the past years, he said: When independe faculties of chemistry, mathematics and physics have been established, its requiremes must also be accepted and these fields must be strengthened competitively and at a high level. If the basic sciences are weakened, in the long run, engineering and the eire scieific system of the coury will be damaged.
Soroush emphasized: It is necessary to provide inceive mechanisms to support fundameal activities that have the possibility of being published in prestigious journals with a high impact factor.
Stating that the gap between engineering education and basic sciences has increased in rece years, he clarified: an engineering stude must have strong foundations in mathematics, physics and chemistry. Strengthening these foundations will not only help the quality of education, but will also lay the foundation for improving the level of research and innovation in the university.
In the end, he noted: Paying atteion to basic research is a long-term investme for the future of the university and the coury. Although these types of researches may come to a conclusion later, they provide the main platform for the developme of technology and engineering.
