According to Mehr news agency, quoted by Shahab news agency, the National Committee for Referral of the Sick and Wounded in Gaza asked the World Health Organization to immediately iervene to create a clear and binding mechanism for the immediate exit of the sick and wounded from Gaza.
This committee, poiing out that the coinuation of the traffic ban threatens the lives of thousands of people, said that it represes about 22,000 injured people who are on the referral list. Among these people, 5,000 people need to leave immediately, and in addition to them, 8,000 need medical travel for cancer paties.
Emphasizing that at least one patie dies every day due to not leaving Gaza, this report emphasized that the total number of injured people in the Gaza Strip is close to 200,000, of which 20,000 have suffered amputations and need advanced prostheses and rehabilitation treatme.
The committee called on the Egyptian authorities to iervene and reopen the Rafah crossing with an urge humanitarian mechanism. The said committee also asked the iernational mediators and the World Peace Council to put pressure on the Zionist regime to facilitate the travel of critical cases.
The stateme emphasized that the Rafah crossing is the only land crossing for more than two million Palestinians and that the curre travel mechanism has become a “gradual death seence” for the sick.
