Supporters of Palestine call on the French Foreign Minister to resign – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to RCO News Agency, quoted by Shahab News Agency, more than 150 prominent political and diplomatic figures in an open letter accused French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barro of “spreading false information” about the statements of Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on Palestinian Territories, and demanded his resignation.
According to the report, the signatories of the letter, who are mostly former Dutch diplomats, along with former ministers of Greece, Argentina and Denmark, condemned “the use of false and distorted statements to discredit an independent UN envoy.”
This reaction came after some representatives close to the French government accused Albanese of describing the Zionist regime as the common enemy of humanity. A claim that this independent official of the United Nations strongly rejected and considered it a false accusation and a distortion of his words.
According to reports, the French foreign minister, along with some western governments including Germany and Italy, called Albanese’s statements shameful and called for his resignation, citing incomplete quotes.
The background of these developments is the video speech of Albanian in “Aljazeera Association”; Where he described the system that prevents Israel from responding as the common enemy of humanity.
In an interview with France-24, Albanese stated: “I never said that Israel is the common enemy of humanity.” He explained that he spoke about crimes, apartheid and genocide and criticized the system that obstructs the administration of justice.
Previously, Donald Trump’s administration had imposed sanctions against Albanese last June; Sanctions typically used against entities associated with terrorism. This action took place after he repeatedly criticized the policies of the Zionist regime and sent warning letters to some American companies, including Lockheed Martin.
