The Peagon used artificial ielligence in the kidnapping of Maduro

Two US media outlets reported that the US military actively used a type of artificial ielligence model during its invasive operation to kidnap the preside of Venezuela in January.
According to Isna, the Wall Street Journal and Axios revealed that the US military used the “Cloud Ahropic” artificial ielligence model during the operation to kidnap Venezuelan Preside Nicolás Maduro last moh.
This artificial ielligence was used during active operations, not just in the preliminary stages. Its exact role is not yet clear, although the US military has previously used AI models to analyze satellite imagery and real-time ielligence.
The San Francisco-based AI lab’s usage policies prohibit using its technology to “facilitate violence, develop weapons, or conduct surveillance.” No Americans were killed in the attack, but dozens of Venezuelan and Cuban soldiers and security personnel were killed in the attack, which took place on January 3.
A spokesperson for the AI company said: “We cannot comme on whether Cloud AI or any other model of AI was used for special or classified operations. Any use of this artificial ielligence, whether in the private sector or in other parts of the US governme, is required to follow the policies of its use.
Competitors Ahropic, OpenAI, Google and Elon Musk’s XAI all have agreemes that allow the Peagon access to their models without many of the guaraees that apply to regular users.
But only the cloud, through a partnership with Palair Technologies, has been deployed on classified platforms used for the US military’s most sensitive tasks.
The disclosure comes amid reports that Ahropic is in talks with the Peagon to see if it could ease restrictions on the use of artificial ielligence for automatic weapons and domestic surveillance.
The impasse has stalled a coract worth up to $200 million, as US Secretary of War Pete Hegst has vowed not to use models that he says “don’t let you fight.”
