German Prime Minister: America is not strong enough – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency

According to RCO News Agency, quoted by Al Jazeera, the Prime Minister of Germany said during the opening meeting of the Munich Security Conference: “The rules of the iernational order are currely being destroyed and we are eering an era of power politics.” We have eered a new phase of open conflict that will transform our world. The world is changing in a way that we did not imagine and we need to talk to each other.
“Frideresh Mertes” coinued his speech and added: China is redefining the iernational system in such a way as to secure its ierests. Washington knows it has to compete with China’s progress and is doing it in its own way. We have reached conclusions about relations with China that are differe from those of Washington. China may be on par with America militarily in the near future.
He stated: I have no doubt that if we can work together, we will protect our ierests and values. We will overcome obstacles, keep our freedom and come out of this difficult time stronger than ever.
The German chancellor noted: We focus on our freedom more than anything else, and it is our security that makes this freedom possible. Europe is worth more to us today than ever before, and the gap between ambition and reality is huge and we are trying to close it. Our freedom is under threat and we must be ready to sacrifice and accept change. We are trying to strengthen our military and economic capabilities.
He also meioned the developmes in Ukraine and said: We support Ukraine’s resistance against Russia from a military, political and economic poi of view. If Russia agrees to peace, it will be because of the losses it has suffered. Europe, America and Ukraine are trying to bring Russia to a poi where it will have to stop the war through political, economic and military means. Russia is not ready for serious negotiations and the war will end when Russia is exhausted militarily and economically. We are strengthening NATO’s eastern wing. Europe must not retreat from the dangers, but must create new opportunities. We should try to be the main pillar of NATO and not to replace it.
Mertes also addressed the relations between Europe and America and emphasized: We are developing a new road map to strengthen Europe’s power and Europe must be active in iernational politics. I discussed with the French preside about the issue of European nuclear deterrence. We believe in free trade and are opposed to protectionist policies and tariffs. We reject the invitations to abandon America as a partner of Europe. We are stronger when couries on both sides of the Atlaic work together, and NATO is not just a European alliance. America is not strong enough to act alone. We will not abandon NATO, but we will make Europe’s power self-sufficie.
