The call for the management, guidance and direction of the systematic project of analysis and identification of the roots, effects and consequences of inflation was published by the National Science Foundation of Iran.
According to Isna In recent years, the National Science Foundation of Iran has put basic science studies on the agenda to achieve a comprehensive program of a systemic approach in the field of inflation by using experts in this field, and in this regard, in its new call, it has targeted scientific-research institutions and reputable research centers specializing in the field of inflation, which have the ability to break the problem of inflation into sub-projects and guide projects with a systematic approach.
In this call, proposals must be submitted by a faculty member as the institution’s representative to the Science Foundation. The call briefing workshop is on March 6, 1404 and the deadline for participation in the call is set until March 29, 1404.
The main goal of the call is to achieve a systemic inflation control strategy by relying on reliable quantitative methods and with an integrated architecture. This strategy should be based on three pillars: “Knowing the main lines of the roots”, “Measuring the multidimensional effects of inflation on different sectors of the economy and society” and designing solutions in the form of coordinated policy modules.
The approach of this call is based on evidence and causality. Before estimating, the project manager must clarify the causal mechanisms and paths of policy or shock transmission, then apply the appropriate identification method and report the uncertainty and sensitivity of the results at the end.
All projects must use a common data backbone, keep frequency and unit and variable naming the same, and respect data and code versioning. The integrity of the results is measured in the framework of the root and effect matrix and the policy, so that contradictions and gaps are revealed and resolved in periodic integration cycles.
The application of this mega project is in the field of policy making. The main audiences include the Central Bank, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance, the Planning and Budget Organization, regulatory and supervisory institutions in the money and capital market and competition, sectorial bodies, legislative authorities, etc.; Therefore, it is necessary for the plan implementer to take into account the implementation process as well as the compilation of outputs in coordination with the calendar of the country’s key decisions, such as the development (progress) plan, the annual budget, monetary policy reviews and structural reform programs, and consider the applicability of the project outputs in these programs.
This call focuses on cooperation between universities and research institutes and renowned specialized institutions. The formation of inter-institutional consortia with a specific leader is allowed, provided that the project governance structure, task division, coordination and accountability mechanism are clear. Each proposal should demonstrate how the outputs of the various projects are aligned to a common data standard and scenario assumptions, and how deliverables converge in periodic integration cycles.
The priority areas of this call are focused on the two main areas of inflation and systemic approach.
