The rise of Europeans to acquire a new ballistic missile

European couries are considering acquiring a new ballistic missile manufactured by the Arianegroup as part of efforts to bolster Europe’s defenses after the Russia-Ukraine war.
According to Isna, several European couries, including France and Germany, have expressed ierest in a new land-based ballistic missile proposed by ArianeGroup, a French aerospace and defense engineering company.
The ierest comes at a critical time as Europe seeks to fill a gap in its arsenal capable of striking targets deep in “enemy” soil, according to al-Mayadeen.
The company explained that the French Ministry of Defense has started discussions with Arianegroup about the system, noting that the missile is capable of hitting targets at a distance of more than 1,000 kilometers in a matter of minutes.
The company also added that it is in coact with the German governme and provides information about the capabilities of this missile.
In response to Russian threats, Europe is considering the developme of ballistic missiles
The moves come as several European couries, including Germany and France, have increased their defense spending since the start of the Russia-Ukraine conflict in 2022, after US Preside Donald Trump made clear that Europeans should expect a reduction in US military support in the future.
Russia’s increasing use of ballistic missiles has prompted some European couries to look for ways to strike deep io enemy territory.
Last moh, Russia used its Orshnik iermediate-range ballistic missile in Ukraine for a second time, saying its speed of more than 10 times the speed of sound made it impossible to iercept.
In this coext, French Preside Emmanuel Macron said last moh that Europe should develop similar weapons to deter Russia and secure the coine.
He noted that the French budget has allocated up to one billion euros to its land-based ballistic missile program.
