380 UNRWA employees were killed in the Gaza war – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to RCO News Agency, quoted by Al Jazeera, the Commissioner General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said: We are still active in the Gaza Strip despite the pressures.
Philip Lazzarini coinued his ierview with Al Jazeera and added: Since the start of the war on October 7, 2023, more than 380 UNRWA employees have been killed.
Poiing out that UNRWA is under political and legal pressure from Israel, he clarified that the agency’s budget crisis is deepening due to the defamation campaign we are facing from Israel. Our service has been reduced by 20% due to lack of funds.
The Commissioner General of UNRWA noted: Palestinians in Gaza are deprived of education. But it is necessary to return the studes of Gaza to the educational environme. Despite the violence, we coinue to run our schools in the West Bank.
Lazzarini also announced: Due to Israel’s decisions, no iernational staff of this agency are prese in the West Bank. Meanwhile, UNRWA should be part of the solution in any future political process for the Palestinians.
At the end of his speech, this senior iernational official warned: Israel iends to dissolve UNRWA, especially in the occupied Palestinian territories.
