United Nations: The confiscation of West Bank lands is a clear violation of the Palestinians’ right to self-determination
The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights considered the recent decisions of the Zionist regime to confiscate land in the West Bank as a clear violation of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and called for the immediate cancellation of this decision.
According to Isna, Volker Turk, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, said: Israel’s recent decision to expand land confiscation in the West Bank is aimed at making it impossible to form a viable Palestinian state and accelerates the process of forced displacement of Palestinians and their deprivation of their rights and natural resources.
Turk emphasized: These decisions, by changing the laws, provide the ground for Zionist officials and settlers to own land in the West Bank, and this action leads to the consolidation of the illegal annexation and the gradual integration of the West Bank into the occupied lands.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights added: Palestinians in parts of Hebron, including the area of the Ibrahimi Mosque, have been deprived of planning and construction powers. The imposition of administrative control on the “Bilal Bin Rabah” mosque located in “Bethlehem” is also considered a violation of cultural rights.
He clarified: These developments take place in a broader framework of attacks by Zionist settlers, forced migration, destruction of houses and the imposition of travel restrictions. Actions permanently change the demographic structure of the occupied territories.
The ceasefire agreement, which came into effect on October 10, 2025, ended the genocidal war that lasted two years and resulted in the martyrdom of more than 72,000 people and the wounding of more than 171,000 Palestinians. This war has caused extensive destruction that has destroyed about 90% of the civilian infrastructure and the cost of its reconstruction has been estimated by the United Nations at about 70 billion dollars.
At the same time, a member of the European Parliament emphasized the need to put pressure on the Zionist regime to respect the rights of the Palestinians.
Cecelia Estrada, a member of the European Parliament, said: “The European Union should take more measures in the West Bank and Gaza.” Israel’s actions are a violation of international law.
According to the report of the Palestinian News agency “Sama”, he further added: Estrada also stated that the European Union applies double standards.
This member of the European Parliament emphasized the necessity of putting pressure on the Zionist regime to respect the rights of the Palestinians.
