Lavrov: Trump’s “Peace Council” cannot replace the United Nations
The Russian Foreign Minister announced that the “Peace Council” established by the American Preside to deal with the situation in Gaza cannot replace the United Nations and has a differe nature from this iernational organization.
According to Isna, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said today (Wednesday) that the Peace Council established by US Preside Donald Trump to resolve the situation in Gaza cannot replace the United Nations.
Asked if this council could replace the United Nations, Lavrov said: “No. This is a differe matter.”
He added that the United States does not like the United Nations, regardless of its political affiliation, because in this institution you have to convince others and seek compromise.
Lavrov poied to the UN body and coinued: “They would like it to look like the Peace Council. They say we will organize it, they will decide for themselves and you will gather there and come to a conclusion about something.”
In January, Trump announced the formation of the “Peace Council” and invited the heads of about 50 couries to join it.
