America is looking for a ceasefire agreement between Ukraine and Russia until March – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to RCO News Agency, citing Al-Arabiya Network, Reuters reported on Friday, quoting three informed sources, that American and Ukrainian negotiators have discussed an ambitious goal of reaching a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine by next March (March/April), but due to the lack of agreement on the main land issue, this timetable is likely to be postponed.
According to the report, five sources said that under the framework being considered by U.S. and Ukrainian negotiators, any possible deal would be put to a referendum, and Ukrainians would also vote in national elections at the same time.
Three other sources said that the US negotiating team, headed by special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, have expressed their desire to hold a vote on the Ukrainian side as soon as possible in recent meetings held in Miami and Abu Dhabi.
According to two sources, US negotiators have indicated that Trump is likely to focus on domestic issues as mid-term congressional elections approach in November. An issue that means reducing the time and political influence of senior American officials to finalize a peace agreement.
Meanwhile, two other sources announced that American and Ukrainian officials have also considered the possibility of holding elections and referendum in May, but sources familiar with the negotiation process have described the timeline proposed by the United States as unrealistic.
According to this report, the officials responsible for holding elections in Ukraine predict that it will take about six months to organize the elections in the current situation.
