Wittkoff: Abu Dhabi talks were focused on the implementation of the ceasefire in Ukraine – Mehr News Agency | RCO News Agency
According to the Mehr News Agency, quoted by Russia Allium, “Steve Witkoff”, the special envoy of the US President, announced in a message on the “X” platform that the delegations of Russia, Ukraine and the United States have reviewed a series of issues related to the cessation of conflicts and how to implement the ceasefire during the two days of negotiations in Abu Dhabi.
According to this report, these talks, which ended on Thursday, included the review of economic issues, ceasefire monitoring mechanisms, as well as issues related to disputed lands.
“Tass” news agency also quoted an informed source and wrote that these talks are part of the ongoing efforts to find a practical framework to reduce tensions between Moscow and Kiev.
This is the second round of tripartite security talks in Abu Dhabi; The first round was held in January, and in both meetings, the Russian delegation headed by Igor Kostyukov, head of the Military Intelligence Department of the Russian General Staff, participated.
It should be noted that the UAE has become one of the active mediation channels between Russia and Ukraine in recent months and has hosted several confidential security meetings.
Ceasefire negotiations continue while the conflicts on the eastern fronts of Ukraine are still intense and international efforts to create a stable peace framework have not yet reached a definitive conclusion.
Since the beginning of this year, America and some European countries have tried to keep the channels of dialogue between Moscow and Kiev active in order to prevent the spread of the crisis.
