
According to Mehr reporter, in order to strengthen the data-driven governance of science and technology and to respond to the increasing need of universities and policymakers for reliable and iegrated analyses, the science measureme system of the coury’s universities has been designed and launched by the Iran Science and Information Technology Research Institute (Irandac); A system that for the first time provides a comprehensive, cohere and reliable picture of the scieific performance of Iranian universities.
The end of scattered views on scieific performance
For many years, the evaluation of academic performance of universities relied on scattered reports, heterogeneous data and sometimes inconsiste indicators. Each university or institution used to analyze its situation based on limited resources and differe methods, and this caused macro-scieific decision-making to be accompanied by uncertaiy and sometimes delay. The absence of a national system and reference had created a serious void in the science policy of the coury.
A system to accurately observe the “scieific face” of universities
The science measureme system of the coury’s universities has provided the possibility of coinuous and comparable monitoring of the universities’ performance by gathering, refining and analyzing scieific data. Relying on standard scieometric indicators, this system displays various dimensions of science production in an analytical and comprehensible manner and elevates universities from the level of descriptive reports to the level of evidence-based analysis.
