Unauthorized excavations have killed many historical sites in Alborz province, and this has prompted the reaction of the director general of cultural heritage, handicrafts and tourism of the province.
According to the Director General of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism of Alborz, unauthorized excavations have killed many historical sites in the province and caused great damage to these spaces.
Rahim Khaki, poiing out that there are currely 41 registered historical Imamzadeh buildings in Alborz, stated:
The renovation and restoration of these buildings is the responsibility of their custodian, that is, the General Departme of Awqaf, and cultural heritage only has the aspect of monitoring the restoration process.
He we on to explain that the project for the collection of Alborz’s registered works has just started:
With the implemeation of this project, the latest status of the works that have reached the national register will be checked, which includes 41 blessed tombs.
He explained:
More than 300 historical and heritage works have been registered in Alborz, some of them are not in ieresting conditions and need to be restored and renovated quickly.
This official added, poiing out that heritage works and buildings are part of the culture of this region.
Preservation of these works cannot be done by an institution or office alone, and it is necessary for the people to be with us in this field.
Khaki emphasized: Today, unauthorized excavations have destroyed many historical sites of the province and caused great damage to these spaces.
Director General of Alborz Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism expressed:
People are requested to coact the cultural heritage departme or the police officers immediately if they see suspicious cases or dig in historical sites and report the cases.
