Holding an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation about Somaliland – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to Mehr news agency, quoted by al-Quds al-Arabi, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation will hold an emergency meeting at the level of foreign ministers on Saturday, January 10, at the headquarters of the organization’s secretariat in Jeddah, in western Arabia, with the aim of examining the hasty and dangerous developments in Somalia.
This meeting takes place following recent developments in the recognition of Somaliland by the Zionist regime, which is an act against the sovereignty of Somalia.
The purpose of this meeting is to adopt a unified Islamic position towards the recent developments in Somalia in the shadow of intensifying political concerns about its reflection on the security and stability of the region.
According to the announcement of the Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, this meeting is focused on emphasizing the constant support of Somalia’s sovereignty and the security of the region and emphasizing the territorial integrity of this country as an inseparable principle, citing international charters and decisions of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
The recognition of Somaliland by the Zionist regime faced widespread criticism and anger from the international community.
Yesterday, Gideon Sa’er, the foreign minister of the Zionist regime, as the first Zionist official, went to Somaliland and met with its president.
Since the separatism of 1991, Somaliland has not been recognized by any party to act as an autonomous region in terms of politics, security and administration, and the central government has not been able to exercise its sovereignty over this region.
