According to Isna, US President Donald Trump announced in an interview with NBC that the operation to oust Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro was carried out without the help of his close circle and that the country’s actions were carried out with the cooperation of American officials.
He added: “We are not currently at war with Venezuela, and there will be no need for lawmakers to intervene to return American troops to Venezuela.”
Trump also emphasized that new elections in Venezuela will not be held in the next 30 days and that the priority is to reform the country’s energy infrastructure.
Trump said: “A group of US officials will help oversee this intervention, and the transition phase in Venezuela may take up to 18 months.”
In another part of the interview, he emphasized that Maduro’s deputy, Delsey Rodríguez, is cooperating with the American authorities and that no contact had been made with him before Maduro’s ouster. If Rodríguez does not cooperate with the US, there is a possibility of military action again in Venezuela.
