According to RCO News Agency, quoted by AFP, Colombian Preside Gustavo Petro said in response to the threats of US Preside Donald Trump: “Don’t threaten a fighter with war.” Ever since the end of the civil wars, I had vowed never to take up arms again, but now, against my own will, I am ready to take up arms in defense of my homeland.
Addressing the Armed Forces of Colombia, he added: Any soldier who prefers the American flag to the Colombian flag should leave the army.

Although Colombia and the United States are key military and economic allies in the region, relations between the two couries have been strained, especially since the start of Trump’s second term, due to issues such as tariffs and immigration policies.
Yesterday, when asked if a Venezuela-style military ierveion was on the cards for Colombia, Trump said: “I think it’s a good idea.”
