Maduro will appear in court in New York on Monday
The American media reported that the president of Venezuela, who was kidnapped by the American forces, will be formally charged on January 5 (January 15) in the New York City Court.
According to Isna, US President Donald Trump attacked Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, on Saturday in an illegal invasion called “Operation Absolute Determination” and arrested Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife and took them to New York.
The “Washington Post” newspaper wrote on Sunday evening, quoting informed sources: “Nicolas Maduro, the president of Venezuela, who was arrested by the US forces, will be formally charged at 17:00 GMT (20:30 Tehran time) on January 5 in New York City Court.”
This American media emphasized: “Maduro is scheduled to appear in the Manhattan District Court before Judge Alvin Hellerstein, who presided over a number of important cases.”
A spokeswoman for the US District Court for the Southern District of New York also confirmed Sunday that Nicolas Maduro and his wife will appear before a federal judge on Monday.
This spokesman told CBS News: “Maduro and Celia Flores are scheduled to appear in federal court on Monday at 12 noon local time. “This will be their first appearance in court on criminal charges since they left Venezuela during the US military operation in Caracas on Saturday.”
Meanwhile, “Ivan Gil”, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, said earlier: “Today, despite the blow it suffered, Venezuela enjoys peace and tranquility, and Nicolás Maduro is still the legitimate president of the government.”
Venezuela’s Minister of Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, in a speech referring to Washington’s military aggression against Caracas, announced the deployment of armed forces throughout this Latin American country and said that the actions of the United States are a “threat to international order”.
