Trump: If Maduro’s deputy is accompanied, there is no need to send troops to Venezuela
The American president, by making new statements about the developments in Venezuela, revealed Washington’s step-by-step pressure scenarios and at the same time rejected any immediate plans for military action against Cuba.
According to RCO News Agency, US President Donald Trump announced in an interview with the New York Post that Washington will not need to send military forces to the country if Venezuela’s Vice President Nicolás Maduro complies with US demands.
Pointing to the options ahead of the US government, Trump added: “We have a second wave that is much bigger than the first wave, and Vice President Maduro understands this very well.”
The American president also emphasized that the United States currently has no plans to take military action against Cuba and that the country’s government will fall by itself.
In another part of his speech, Trump claimed that “a number of Cuban citizens died last night protecting Maduro,” a claim that has not yet been confirmed by independent sources.
These statements were made while Delsey Rodríguez, the vice president of Venezuela, in a speech emphasizing the need to respect the country’s constitution, declared that Nicolás Maduro is “the only legitimate president of Venezuela” and that Washington should immediately release him and his wife.
Rodriguez stated: “Venezuela will never be a colony of any country.”
