Trump: If there is no agreement, the war in Ukraine will be prolonged
In the meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, the US President expressed hope for the end of the war in Ukraine and said that he would give security guarantees to this war-torn European country.
According to RCO News Agency, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky entered the Maralago club owned by US President Donald Trump in Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday afternoon local time for peace talks.
According to CNN News, the US president said alongside his Ukrainian counterpart: “Putin (President of Russia) and Zelensky (President of Ukraine) are both serious about achieving peace.”
Donald Trump stated that the agreement with Ukraine will include an agreement and security guarantees, and said: “European countries will also participate a lot in this regard.”
Donald Trump, who had a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin before this meeting, said: “After the meeting with Zelensky, I will call Putin again to continue negotiations.” They are complicated, but not that complicated!”
He added: “Negotiations to resolve the crisis have many economic benefits for Ukraine and there are many measures for reconstruction.”
“I think the Ukraine negotiations are in the final stages, otherwise the conflict will continue for a long time,” Trump stressed. “I believe we have laid the groundwork for an agreement that is good for Ukraine and good for everyone.”
The President of the United States stated about a deadline for resolving the Ukraine crisis: “I will not set a deadline. No one even knows what the security agreement will be, but there will be a security agreement; A strong agreement!”
He said about Russia’s operations in Ukraine: “I believe that Ukraine has also carried out very strong attacks, and I do not say this in a negative way. There have been explosions in different parts of Russia. I don’t think these attacks came from Congo. I don’t think it came from the United States; “It probably came from Ukraine.”
While referring to the provision of security guarantees to Ukraine, the American president warned that if they do not reach an agreement now, the war will last longer.
The President of Ukraine also said: “Discussions between Washington and Kyiv have progressed over the past month, and I hope that peace will be achieved as soon as possible.”
Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated that the focus will be on the 20-point peace plan and reaching an agreement, saying: “It is very important that our teams discuss and consult on strategy, how to proceed step by step and bring peace closer.”
He added: “About 90% of this plan has been discussed by the teams.”
Zelensky also confirmed that he will discuss the territorial concessions of Ukraine, saying: “Yes, we will discuss this point.”
Donald Trump then asked reporters to leave the compound so that his meeting with Zelensky could continue behind closed doors.
CNN reported that the presidents of both countries are expected to make contact with European leaders after the meeting between Trump and Zelensky.
