New York Times: Trump is getting weaker and the resistance against him is getting stronger
In a report referring to President Trump’s performance in the past year, which has led to a significant decrease in his popularity, the American newspaper wrote: “Trump is getting weaker and the resistance is stronger, and this is the reason why people did not go with him.”
According to RCO News Agency, for those who are able to clearly see the kakistocracy (a government run by the worst people) of US President Donald Trump, 2025 has been a terrible year. He returned to power with renewed audacity, surrounded by sycophantic tech magnates who apparently controlled not only the country, but the zeitgeist as well.
Since then, this year has been a series of nightmares: masked gunmen on the streets, migrants sent to torture prisons in El Salvador, corruption on a scale undreamed of even by the most glamorous Third World dictators, and the shocking surrender of many leaders in business, law, media and academia.
However, as 2025 draws to a close, there are reasons for hope.
According to the New York Times, and it’s because of the millions of people across the United States who have refused to give in to this government’s bullying. As Trump began his second term in office, common sense dictated that the resistance was on the wane. If this was once true, it certainly isn’t anymore.

The year 2025 has seen some of the largest street protests in American history. Amanda Litman, founder of Run for Something, a group that trains progressive youth to run for local office, said she has seen more registrations since the 2024 election than in the entire first four years of Trump’s presidency.
This month, Indiana’s GOP-dominated Legislature rebelled against efforts by the MAGA (Make America Great Again) movement to intimidate them at the urging of voters, refusing to redraw its congressional maps to eliminate Democratic-leaning districts.
Leah Greenberg, founder of the resistance group Indivisible, said: “While Trump has been able to do tremendous damage that will have generational effects, he has not been able to successfully consolidate his power. “It’s been delayed, and frankly, not because of the efforts of people in elite institutions or political leadership, but because of the efforts of ordinary people who refuse to go along with fascism.”
American protests
The American media went on to present cases in which the American people did not go along with the hidden and open demands of the government and wrote: In June, Trump’s military parade, which was supposed to be a show of dominance, failed, and simultaneous protests under the title “No Kings” were huge and energetic throughout America. A few months later, conservative political activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated, a tragedy that the government sought to exploit to silence its opposition. And when Jimmy Kimmel made an unflattering comment about ABC that seemed to blame the right wing for Kirk’s murder, Disney, the network’s parent company, bowed to pressure to drop Kimmel from the show.
This was a dangerous moment for freedom of speech; Suddenly, America was becoming a country where critics of the regime are fired from television, but then a wave of boycotts of Disney Plus and Disney’s Hulu service, as well as celebrity boycotts, came and Disney returned Kimmel’s program.
Trump has also completely corrupted the Justice Department, but selective prosecutions of his enemies have been thwarted by judges and, more surprisingly, by grand juries. For example, two grand juries declined to indict New York Attorney General Letitia James, whom the government has accused of mortgage fraud without credible evidence.
According to the New York Times, Trump will end 2025 weak and unpopular, his coalition disheartened and divided internally. Democrats dominated the November election. During the Joe Biden administration, far-right victories in school board races were an early sign of the cultural backlash that would bring Trump to power, but now, Democrats across the country are changing school board seats.
Emphasizing that “much of the credit for reviving the resistance belongs to Trump himself,” the American newspaper noted: “If he had focused his deportation campaign on criminals or refrained from damaging the economy with erratic tariffs while mocking concerns about affordability, he would likely have remained a more powerful figure.” He’s still an incredibly dangerous person, especially as he feels increasingly cornered and resentful. After all, at the time of this article, the US could be at war with Venezuela, although no one in the administration has bothered to articulate a plausible rationale for escalating the conflict.
Over the past year, we’ve found it easier to envision the moment when his cool finally wears off, as fewer people want to defend him. This would be the reason why a significant portion of Americans refused to fear him or to cooperate with him.
