Retired British generals request Starmer to stop arms sales to Israel
Four retired senior officers of the British Army asked the government of this country to stop the sale of arms to the Zionist regime and impose a complete arms embargo and end all military cooperation with Tel Aviv in the midst of the Gaza war.
According to Isna, these officers emphasized in a letter to British Prime Minister Kerr Starmer that despite the existence of a fragile ceasefire, “now is not the time to return to normalcy in relations with Israel.”
Anatolia News agency wrote that they called for the tightening of sanctions, including a ban on any cooperation with defense companies owned or supported by the Zionist regime.
The retired generals refuted the claim of a senior British Ministry of Defense official who said that “Israel appears to have strict procedures for conducting military operations and targeting that are in many ways similar to our procedures.” These statements were previously made in a legal case about the export of British weapons to the occupied territories last July.
They emphasized that British military methods are clearly different from the Israeli army and pointed to Tel Aviv’s use of weapons that they said had led to “grossly disproportionate and avoidable civilian casualties” and widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure.
These officers also pointed to the warning of more than 100 humanitarian organizations about the occurrence of famine as a result of the actions of the Zionist forces in Gaza, as well as the repeated attacks on hospitals, schools and other vital centers for the survival of civilians. In this letter, extensive reports about the torture of detainees in the detention centers of the Zionist regime are also mentioned.
According to the authors of the letter, the evidence of war crimes is “so extensive, documented and convincing that the British government must immediately cut off all military cooperation with Israel to avoid being accused of complicity.”
They demanded to stop any use of British Air Force planes in support of the Zionist Army and also to completely suspend the transfer of military technologies.
