Moscow: The Ukrainian peace plan is fundamentally different from what Russia and the United States have discussed
“Sergei Ryabkov”, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, announced on Friday that the plan for peace and resolution of the crisis in Ukraine, which was published yesterday, is fundamentally different from what is being discussed in the contacts with the United States.
According to Isna, Ryabkov said in the “60 Minutes” program of the “Russia-1” channel: “Yesterday we saw references to a 20-point plan that was published in Ukrainian public groups. “We know that this plan – if it can be called a plan at all – is fundamentally different from the 27 articles that we have been working on in recent weeks and since early December in contact with the American side.”
According to the Sputnik News agency, this Russian diplomat added that Ukraine does not intend to reach an agreement to resolve the conflict and has redoubled its efforts to undermine this process.
According to Ryabkov, setting fake deadlines will not help to reach an agreement on Ukraine. He emphasized that the parties are close to solving the Ukraine crisis, but now everything depends on their political will and Russia is fully ready to solve this conflict. Ryabkov also stressed that the scenario of the collapse of Ukraine is not completely impossible.
In another part of his speech, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia stated that the United States has tied the resumption of direct flights with Russia to the end of the conflict in Ukraine. In this regard, he said: “They (the Americans) do not agree with this issue and so far no progress has been made in this regard.” They say: Let’s reach an agreement on Ukraine first, then we will return to this issue.”
