Russia cancels military treaties with several European countries – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to RCO News Agency, quoted by Sputnik, the Ministry of Defense of Russia announced that according to the order of the government, the international treaties concluded with several European countries will be terminated.
Based on this decision, the military mutual understanding with England, the bilateral cooperation agreement with Poland and a number of other treaties concluded in the 1990s will be invalidated.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia signed several treaties with European countries in the 1990s with the aim of building trust and military cooperation. However, the escalation of tensions between Moscow and the West, especially after the start of the Ukraine war, has caused Russia to review these agreements.
Moscow believes that the behavior of European countries and NATO in recent years is not in line with previous security commitments and considers this trend as a threat to its national security. In the same framework, the cancellation of these treaties is evaluated as part of Russia’s policy to reduce military cooperation with the West and redefine its security relations.
