Neither Ukraine nor Russia will surrender anytime soon
Marco Rubio announced on Friday that neither Russia nor Ukraine is going to surrender anytime soon.
According to RCO News Agency, in an interview with reporters at the US State Department, Rubio said: “Wars usually end in one of two ways; Either one side surrenders, or a negotiated settlement is reached. “We see no sign of either side giving up in the near future, so the only way to end this war is through a negotiated solution.”
According to “Sputnik” News agency, Rubio further said: “There is a reason why this war is not over yet, and that is the complexity of the factors involved. “I think everyone would agree that there’s only one country in the world — only one actor — that can really talk to both sides and see if there’s a way to end this war peacefully, and that’s the United States.”
He added: “We are always looking for opportunities to act as a mediator if possible; A role that leads to preventing war or ending conflicts.”
In another part of his speech, the US Secretary of State said, referring to America’s ability to provide foreign aid: “Taxpayers’ money should be spent in line with our foreign policy; “In places and for actions that serve our foreign policy interests.”
He clarified: “We have limited financial resources for foreign and humanitarian aid, and these resources should be used in a way that strengthens our national interests.”
Rubio also emphasized that the US is not seeking to impose any agreement on Ukraine.
The US foreign minister also emphasized in response to a question that the country is not worried about the escalation of tensions with Russia over the issue of Venezuela.
He clarified: “We expect them to verbally support the Maduro regime, but they are not a factor in this whole matter.”
Rubio also said the United States is working with Western Hemisphere governments to ensure stability in the region.
He added: “There is only one place that does not cooperate, and that is the illegitimate regime of Venezuela; “Not only are they not cooperating with us, but they are openly cooperating with terrorist and criminal elements.”
The US foreign minister further claimed: “For example, they invite Hezbollah and Iran to operate from their soil.”
Donald Trump’s allies, Venezuela and Nicolas Maduro, have accused the country’s president of establishing relations with Hezbollah, but so far they have not provided any evidence to show that the group is active in the South American country of Venezuela.
