Holding a meeting of the working group to establish the secretariat of the Tehran Conveion for the protection of the environme of the Caspian Sea
The working meeting of the special group for the establishme of the secretariat of the Tehran Conveion for the protection of the environme of the Caspian Sea was held in Geneva on 27th and 28th of December 1404 with the presence of special represeatives of the five Caspian coastal couries, including the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.
According to Isna, a delegation from our coury led by “Kazem Gharibabadi”, the deputy of legal and iernational affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the special represeative of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Caspian Sea affairs, and with the presence of represeatives from the Environmeal Protection Organization, participated in this meeting.
During this meeting, documes related to the establishme of the secretariat of the conveion in the Caspian region, including agreemes related to the administrative and financial structure, and the benefits and immunities of the secretariat and its employees, were reviewed and exchanged.
The temporary secretariat of the Tehran Conveion under the supervision of the United Nations Environme Program (UNEP) is based in Geneva, Switzerland, and the establishme of the permane secretariat and its establishme in the couries of the Caspian region is an importa step in the direction of protecting this unique water area and strengthening regional cooperation.
