Trump reclassified marijuana to loosen federal restrictions
US Preside Donald Trump signed an executive order on Thursday, according to which marijuana will be moved to a lower category in the drug classification; A move that loosens federal restrictions on the substance without legalizing it at the federal level.

“In some cases, if carefully prescribed, marijuana can have legitimate medical uses,” Trump said.
He added, “This reclassification order will make it much easier to conduct medical research related to marijuana, allowing us to explore poteial benefits, risks, and future treatmes.”
Earlier this week, in a similar tone, Trump meioned the possibility of expanding research on medical marijuana as a justification for issuing this executive order.
The US Preside also talked about Russia’s war with Ukraine at the ceremony of signing the executive order regarding marijuana and said that he believes they are close to reaching a conclusion about the war in Ukraine.
