The Kremlin denied the conversation between Putin and Erdogan about the S-400
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Thursday denied media reports about Turkish Preside Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s conversation with his Russian couerpart Vladimir Putin regarding the return of Russian S-400 air defense systems.
According to RCO News Agency, Peskov said in a press conference in Moscow that this issue was not on the agenda of the meeting between Putin and Erdogan on the sidelines of the “Iernational Assembly of Peace and Trust” in Ashgabat.
According to Anatolia News agency, Türkiye purchased four S-400 air defense systems from Russia in 2017 worth $2.5 billion. After that, Washington asked Ankara to abandon these Russian systems and buy American Patriot systems instead. When Turkey rejected this request, America withdrew Ankara from the F-35 fighter program.
Peskov coinued and in response to the developmes related to Venezuela, said that Caracas is Russia’s ally and partner.
In this regard, he emphasized: “Venezuela is our ally and partner.” “We have consta coacts, including at the highest levels or with each other.”
Peskov further added that the presides of Russia and Venezuela recely had a phone call with each other.
The spokesman of the Kremlin Palace also warned that Russia sees the escalation of tensions around Venezuela and sees this situation as poteially very dangerous.
