Member of Parliament of Ukraine: Every Ukrainian owes more than 8 thousand dollars – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to Mehr news agency, the former Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament, Dmitry Razumkov, in an interview with Apostrophe TV channel, announced that the country’s current economic indicators in peacetime mean bankruptcy, and that every citizen of this country now owes more than $8,000.
According to this member of the Ukrainian parliament, the government’s irresponsible actions have caused Ukraine a huge debt.
Razumkov said: Ukraine’s total debt is now more than 100 percent of GDP, meaning the country owes more than it produces in a year. In peacetime, such a level indicates bankruptcy.
He considered the rapid growth of the country’s public debt not only as a result of military actions, but also due to management mistakes, inefficient use of resources, and corruption.
According to the former Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament, the government of the country could have reduced the debt burden, but did not do so, and the Ministry of Finance did not follow up on the debt reduction negotiations that began in 2022. Instead, it was decided to shift the responsibility to the people and put the burden of debt on the citizens by constantly raising taxes and creating new taxes.
Earlier, Nina Yojanina, another member of the Ukrainian parliament, announced that the national debt of Ukraine as of September of this year was more than 191 billion dollars, which is three times the amount at the beginning of 2022.
The Ukrainian publication Ekonomichskaya Pravda has predicted that Ukraine’s public debt will reach 110% of the country’s GDP this year.
