Araghchi: Iran is powerful enough to defeat 2 nuclear armies
Iran’s Foreign Minister said: America should respect the will of the Iranian people. Iran today is big and powerful enough to resist and defeat two armies equipped with nuclear weapons.
According to Isna, Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi discussed various issues related to Iran’s foreign policy and regional and international developments in a conversation with Qatari media.
In an exclusive interview with Al Jazeera network, Araghchi addressed the recent threats of the Zionist regime against Iran and emphasized that these threats are more of a psychological war against the country than they are practical.
Araghchi said: “We often hear that the Israeli regime may attack again. It should be noted that the psychological war is part of the real war and they are currently working on creating inflammation and fear in the country.”
He added: “Our people are used to this psychological war. For years, America and Israel have threatened, and America has always said that all options are on the table. It was more to create fear in the society and today the same process continues.”
The 12-day war was a failed experience for the enemies
Referring to the experience of the 12-day war, Araghchi said: “The possibility of war is always there, but both America and the Israeli regime know that the last war was a failed experience. Repeating that experience will have no result other than failure.”
He emphasized: “Our armed forces and people are fully prepared to defend the country.” This does not mean our desire for war; Rather, our priority is diplomacy. In New York, I tried to provide an opportunity for diplomacy, but America and Europe had made up their minds about Snapback and had ambitious demands.
Araghchi noted: “For us, the priority is diplomacy, but we are also ready for any other situation.” As we have shown in the previous war, we are fully prepared to defend the country.”
He added: “The security forces convey their assessments to the authorities and based on that, we are ready for any situation. My impression is that repeating a failed experience should not happen, if there is rationality.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs said: “We are facing enemies who do not refrain from any crime. What happened in Gaza showed that they do not see any limits in their crimes. Therefore, we are fully prepared, but at the same time, we have never closed the opportunities for diplomacy, and there is still room for diplomacy.”
Iran’s nuclear issue has no military solution
Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, continuing his conversation with Al Jazeera, pointed to Iran’s past experiences against threats from the US and the Israeli regime and emphasized that the solution to Iran’s nuclear problems is not military.
Araghchi said: “We will stand up against America and Israel this time as we did last time. “They brought in the biggest bombers and the most advanced fighters and used their most powerful bombs to attack the underground facilities, but to no avail.”
He added: “Iran’s nuclear issue has no military solution. Buildings and equipment may be damaged, but knowledge and technology cannot be destroyed by bombs. Even if a number of scientists are assassinated, there are still others who will continue the path of technology. “Most importantly, the will of a nation cannot be destroyed by bombing.”
Araghchi emphasized: “No matter how big military attacks are carried out by big powers, they cannot solve the problem. This was the experience they had; For years, they threatened military attack and even carried it out, but they did not achieve the desired result.
He pointed out: “Before the military attacks, the people of Iran boycotted Iran for many years and still no problem was solved. “There is no other way but a negotiated and diplomatic solution to the existing issues, and eventually they will have to return to this path.”
If the rights of the Iranian people are ignored, no agreement will be reached
In this interview, Iran’s Foreign Minister also addressed the issue of the illegal attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities and the prospect of diplomacy with the United States.
Araghchi said: “Our nuclear facilities have been seriously damaged by the air attack and many equipments have been destroyed, but knowledge and technology have not been destroyed. The will of the Iranian people has not disappeared either. As the Supreme Leader said, Iran’s nuclear technology is not imported, but is the product of the knowledge of Iranian scientists and can be reproduced. Therefore, Iran’s nuclear program has not been destroyed, although the United States was successful in attacking the facilities and caused serious damage.”
He added: “We did not attack Qatar, but we attacked the American base in Qatar. If the US attacks our nuclear facilities, it should expect us to attack US military bases as well. It doesn’t matter where these bases are located. We live in perfect friendship with the neighboring countries and we have no problem with Qatar or other countries in the region, but the presence of American bases in the territory of some countries is a fact that will determine our war with America.
Araghchi emphasized: “I hope such an incident does not happen.” Earlier, the Americans quickly realized that this war must end. As someone who has been involved in nuclear negotiations for the past 20 years and is now Iran’s foreign minister, I say that a peaceful solution is entirely achievable, provided that both sides respect each other’s rights and are prepared to reach an agreement based on mutual interests. If the rights of the Iranian people are ignored, it is natural that no agreement will be reached.”
He advised Trump: “My suggestion to the American president is to return to diplomacy.” “Finding a negotiated solution is, in my view, entirely within reach.”
Our attack was not on Qatar, it was on the American base
Seyyed Abbas Araghchi continued his conversation with Al Jazeera network, discussed the issue of Iran’s attack on the American base in Qatar and the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran on diplomacy and negotiations with the United States.
Araghchi said: “When Iran attacked the American base in Qatar, the foreign ministers of the member countries of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council went to Doha to declare solidarity with Qatar and issued a statement. I called all six foreign ministers and said please put Iran’s name under that statement because we have no problem with Qatar. “Our attack was not on Qatar, but on the American base, which unfortunately was located on Qatari soil.”
He added: “We never consider America as an honest negotiator. America has not been honest in any field and in my opinion no one can trust America. However, this does not prevent us from trying diplomacy. In the previous round, we also negotiated with America despite complete mistrust, but the fact is that our trust has gradually disappeared in any negotiation with America. The Supreme Leader recently said that negotiations with America are a dead end.”
Araghchi emphasized: “However, the Islamic Republic of Iran, as a country that believes in diplomacy and peaceful solutions, has always been ready to negotiate. The flag of diplomacy is always in our hands, and whenever we feel that the opposite parties are ready to negotiate from an equal position and based on mutual respect and interests, the Islamic Republic of Iran will respond positively.”
The impact of the European Troika on diplomacy cannot be easily compensated
In another part of this interview, he discussed the actions of three European countries in the Security Council and the issue of Iran’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Araghchi said: “The action of three European countries in the Security Council to restore UN sanctions was a blow to diplomacy. This action not only did not solve the original problem, but made it more difficult and complicated. “Just as the US military attack did not solve the problem and made it more difficult, more sanctions will have the same effect.”
He added: “The reality is that the three European countries made the path of diplomacy more difficult with this action and dealt a blow to it that cannot be easily compensated.”
Araghchi said about cooperation with the IAEA: “Many Iranian people think that the IAEA’s inspections and the information obtained from Iran’s nuclear facilities were transferred to Israel and the United States, and this provided the basis for an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities. “After this military operation, we had to stop working with the agency to come up with a new framework because the attack on the nuclear facility was an unprecedented act and there was no protocol for inspecting bombed facilities.”
He continued: “Mr. Grossi and I agreed that a new framework should be designed. Negotiations were held between Iran and the Agency, and finally this framework was signed by myself and Mr. Grossi in Cairo. This action was a sign of Iran’s goodwill and showed that we are ready to interact and move in diplomatic ways. “But unfortunately, this action of Iran was ignored, and the United States and European countries took action in the Security Council to snapback and restore past resolutions.”
Araghchi emphasized: “The Cairo Agreement is no longer effective and Iran is forced to reconsider its cooperation with the Agency.” This will definitely happen.”
Trump’s statements are interference in Iran’s internal affairs
Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, in the continuation of his conversation with Al-Jazeera, pointed to the statements of the American president about Iran and the issue of respecting the will of the Iranian people.
Araghchi said: “I’m not sure what they meant exactly, because this is the obvious interference of the president of one country in the internal affairs of another country. Whether Iran becomes a big country or a great country or not, it only concerns the people of Iran. No one else has the right to decide this. Whether Iran is now in a great and great situation or not is up to us and the people of Iran. For this reason, I am not sure that the President of the United States really meant what he said, as it is understood now. “I really recommend that America respects the Iranian people and respects the system that the Iranian people have chosen for themselves.”
He added: “During the recent 12-day war and America’s attack on Iran, Americans witnessed national unity and people’s support for their country and system. This is not something that others can determine for the people of Iran. More than four decades ago, the people made a revolution against the US-affiliated dictatorial regime and established a democratic system based on Islamic values. America should respect the will of the Iranian people. Today, Iran is big and powerful enough to resist and defeat two armies equipped with nuclear weapons.
At the end of this interview, Araghchi said: “I think the American president had a chance to receive the Nobel Peace Prize if he was moving in the right direction. Unfortunately, his attempt for this award turned into a military attack against Iran; An action that Iranian people cannot ignore or forget. At the recent negotiations in New York, I once again proposed a diplomatic solution, but this proposal was not accepted due to extravagant demands and the influence of various lobbies. The President of the United States had the chance to act in a different way, and perhaps the opportunity has not been lost.
