Thailand stopped sending fuel to Laos – Mehr news agency RCO News Agency

According to RCO News Agency, quoted by Reuters, the Thai army announced that it has stopped sending fuel through one of the border crossings with Laos following the escalation of border conflicts with Cambodia.

Military officials in Bangkok claim to have information indicating that fuel shipmes transiting through Laos have been indirectly provided to Cambodian military forces.

According to the spokesman of the Ministry of Defense of Thailand, this decision was taken with the aim of preveing the strengthening of Cambodia’s military power, and it is emphasized that the target of this action is not the governme or the people of Laos.

The Thai army has also placed restrictions on the traffic of its coury’s ships in Cambodian waters.

Clashes between the two couries coinue along the 817-kilometer land border, and according to official sources, at least 38 people have been killed and more than half a million displaced in the past eight days. These conflicts have spread from the forest areas near the border of Laos to the coastal provinces and are described as unprecedeed in terms of scope and iensity.

Cambodia has accused Thailand of using drones, heavy artillery and airstrikes. On the other hand, Bangkok says that the end of the conflict depends on the complete cessation of military operations by Cambodia and the submission of a ceasefire proposal. Iernational efforts, including US mediation, have so far failed to reduce tensions.
