Erdogan to Putin: We can host peace talks to stop the war in Ukraine
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced in a meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin that he is “closely” following the process of peace talks to end the Russia-Ukraine war and that Ankara is ready to host these talks.
According to RCO News Agency, Erdogan and Putin met on the sidelines of the “International Peace and Trust Assembly” in Turkmenistan and discussed bilateral relations and comprehensive efforts to end the Moscow-Kiev war.
According to Anadolu Agency, Erdogan said efforts to end the war with a “just and lasting peace” are worthwhile and progress can be made in areas that have practical benefits for both sides.
He added that “implementing a limited ceasefire, especially in connection with energy facilities and ports, can be useful.”
The Turkish president once again reiterated Ankara’s support for peace initiatives in the Russian-Ukrainian war.
In his words, Erdogan said: “Ankara is following the process of negotiations aimed at ending the war and is ready to host talks in all formats.”
The two leaders also discussed the situation in Palestine and Syria and the peace process in the South Caucasus.
