Barak: The future of Syria is tied to the agreement with Israel
The US special envoy to Syria said that the current government of Damascus knows that its future is tied to the security and border agreement with the Zionist regime and that this agreement is inevitable.
According to RCO News Agency, “Thomas Barak”, the US special envoy to Syria, stated at the conference of the Hebrew newspaper “Jerusalem Post” in Washington: The Syrian government knows that its future depends on reaching a security and border agreement with Israel, and such an agreement is inevitable.
Referring to the Zionists’ discussion about the agreement with Damascus, Barak said: I thought the agreement between the two sides was much closer than I saw the materials published in the Israeli press, however, this process will continue because this agreement is beneficial for Israel.
According to Al-Mayadeen News website, the US special envoy to Syria added: Tel Aviv prefers Syria to be an easy option.
He continued: Damascus’ main motivation is not to attack Israel and Syria does not intend to become our enemy.
In the end, Barak said: If an agreement is reached, I and my advisers will volunteer to be part of a peacekeeping force.
