Macron, Starmer and Mertes’ phone conversation with Trump about Ukraine
The Elysee Palace announced that the President of France, the Prime Minister of Great Britain and the Chancellor of Germany had a telephone conversation with the President of the United States about the situation in Ukraine.
According to Isna, the French Presidential Palace announced on Wednesday evening that French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Kerr Starmer and German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz had a phone call with US President Donald Trump about the situation in Ukraine.
According to Bloomberg News media, the Elysee Palace announced that the phone call between the European leaders and the US president lasted 40 minutes.
The French presidential office did not release any other details about the call.
“As President Trump pressures Kyiv to accept the deal with Russia, leaders of Ukraine’s allies will hold a video call on Thursday,” a French government spokesman said.
The call comes after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday that he was open to holding new elections in Ukraine, provided “security is guaranteed”.
The White House has not yet commented on this matter.
The phone call comes as Ukraine and its European allies prepare to submit revised proposals to the Trump administration for a possible peace deal with Russia.
Bloomberg reported: “Three documents are under consideration between these countries. One is the general framework for ending the war, the second is related to security guarantees for Kyiv, and the third focuses on the reconstruction of Ukraine.
