Zahra Farahani, head of the cooperation group with iernational organizations of the Presideial Developme and Cooperation Ceer, on the sidelines of the BRICS research infrastructure and scieific projects working group meeting being held in Tehran, in a conversation with Mehr reporter, while poiing out that this ceer acts as a coact poi for Iran’s technology and innovation cooperation with the BRICS group, said: After the presence of Dr. Ahadzadeh, the head of the Presideial Developme and Cooperation Ceer, in the 12th meeting of BRICS science and technology ministers last year, Iran hosted three BRICS meetings. assumed that today’s meeting, the seveh meeting of the working group of research infrastructures and large scieific projects, is one of them.
Farahani clarified: Science and technology is the only field that has a specific and regular organization in the BRICS structure. BRICS Science, Technology and Innovation Steering Committee has 13 specialized working groups of its sub-categories, one of the most importa of which is the working group for research infrastructures and large scieific projects.
He coinued: This working group, which was established in 2015, aims to define practical and operational collaborations and joi research to solve global challenges and problems, especially in the Global South.
The head of the cooperation group with iernational organizations also noted: On the first day of the meeting, the active and productive presence of 8 BRICS member couries including China, Russia, India, Brazil, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, Iran and Indonesia was significa.
According to Mehr, the focus of this meeting in Tehran is on issues such as the developme of joi research cooperation among BRICS member couries, helping to advance the mechanisms of defining and financing large scieific projects, promoting the role of research infrastructure as an engine of innovation, sustainable developme and scieific diplomacy.
The key objectives of the Working Group on Research Infrastructures and Scieific Projects of BRICS include promoting cooperation in large-scale research infrastructures, supporting initiatives for efficie use, developme and manageme of large-scale scieific projects, and creating a dynamic environme for the developme of research infrastructures among BRICS couries.
