According to RCO News Agency, quoted by Reuters, the couing of votes in the presideial election of Honduras, which was held on November 30, has been going on for more than 48 hours without an update, and the results are still very close and uncertain.
According to the latest reports, Nasri Asfoura of the National Party won 40% of the votes, less than 20 thousand votes ahead of his moderate rival, Salvador Nasrallah of the Liberal Party, who won 39% of the votes.
Rixi Moncada of the left-wing Libera party is in third place with 19 perce. About 14% of the votes are distorted and need to be reviewed.
On Sunday, Moncada called for the election to be annulled and called on his supporters to rally to protest what he called electoral fraud.
Although the streets were calm last week, the delay in announcing the results has reduced people’s trust in the National Election Council.
The members of the election council have held the company supporting the vote couing system responsible for stopping the announceme of the results. “Organization of American States” has also called for speeding up the process of couing votes. A candidate for the Honduran presideial election declared the ierference of the US preside as the cause of his oppone’s victory in the election.
Earlier, Nasrallah said in an ierview with Reuters: The ierveion of Donald Trump reduced his chances of winning.
He, who participated in the presideial elections for the third time and preseed himself as ceer-right, added: Trump’s one-time support of his rival Nasri Asfora changed the course of the competition.
Nasrallah also made accusations about fraud in the elections and said: The site announcing the election results was suddenly unavailable and when it returned, the results had changed.
Asfora from the National Party of Honduras, during Hernandez’s term (2014-2022), established close relations with Washington, and as a result of these relations, is now supported by Trump.
Recely, the Preside of the United States, by directly ierfering in the presideial elections of Honduras, warned that changing the election results in favor of the leftist ruling party of this coury will have bad consequences.
Experts on iernational issues have assessed Trump’s clear support for a candidate and the threat of sanctions by leftists as direct ierference in the Honduran elections.
