Expressing Ankara’s hope for the lifting of sanctions by the United States
The Turkish Foreign Minister announced that Ankara and Washington have started a process to cancel the US sanctions and he believes that the two sides will reach a solution to remove these sanctions “very soon”.
According to Isna, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan told Reuters today (Saturday) that he believes that Turkey and the United States will “very soon” find a way to cancel the US sanctions within the framework of the Katsa law, adding that the two NATO allies have started working on this issue.
In 2020, Washington excluded Turkey from the F-35 advanced fighter program due to the purchase of the Russian S-400 air defense system and imposed sanctions against Ankara. Türkiye had called this action “unfair” and expressed hope that the two sides would overcome this problem during the second term of Donald Trump’s presidency.
In an interview on the sidelines of the Doha Summit, Fidan also said that the initial 28-point US plan to end the war in Ukraine, which was criticized by Kiev and some European countries, was only a “starting point” and is now being transformed into a new format.
He stated that he believed that American officials were “on the right track” in terms of mediation methods and expressed hope that the parties would not leave the negotiating table.
Fidan also announced once again that Türkiye is ready to host a new round of peace talks between the conflicting parties.
Turkish Foreign Minister also said: We are afraid of the failure of President Trump’s plan in Gaza. The disarmament of Hamas cannot begin; First, the establishment of the international stabilizing force must be guaranteed. Israel violates the cease-fire agreement in Gaza daily, and as a result there is great danger.
The Turkish Foreign Minister further said: The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) must understand that control and command must come from a single source. Evidence shows that the SDF does not intend to adhere to the agreement to integrate into Syrian government institutions, but instead seeks to circumvent it. Israel’s destabilizing policies in Syria are a major obstacle to unity efforts.
