Heavy Russian air strikes on the Kiev region at the same time as the US-Ukraine talks
The Ukrainian media, quoting the local authorities and the state emergency service of this country, provided details of the damage caused by Russian missile and drone attacks this morning, which indicates damage to the railway infrastructure in the Kiev region.
According to Isna, Russia carried out a massive missile and drone attack across Ukraine at dawn today (Saturday), which caused air sirens to be sounded across the country and attacks in numerous cities.
Local authorities in Ukraine announced that at least three people were injured in the Kyiv region.
The Kyiv Post newspaper reported: According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched several waves of missiles and dozens of drones towards the capital, including planes capable of firing Kinzhal hypersonic missiles.
Drone sightings have been reported even as far west as Lviv province, and the last missile launch was recorded shortly before 7:00 a.m. local time.
Explosions were reported in Poltava, Lutsk, Odessa, Zaporizhia and Bila Serkova.
The Fastiv railway station in the Kiev region was destroyed, and fires broke out in Novy Petrivtsy and a house in Bucha. Mykola Kalashnik, governor of Kyiv, said that a 42-year-old man was injured by shrapnel in Fastiv, and two women, aged 40 and 46, were injured in the Vyshhorod region, north of Kyiv. One of them was hospitalized.

Ukrainian Railways officials said Fastiv was hit during “a massive bombardment of railway infrastructure”.
Fires also broke out in several cities in the Dnipropetrovsk region, including houses in Pavlohrad and infrastructure in Krifiy Rig. An 11-year-old boy was also injured in Nikopol.
Several food warehouses caught fire in Lutsk, causing power outages in parts of the city. Minor power outages were also reported in the Lviv region.
The Polish Air Force said that during the attack on western Ukraine, it flew its fighters to ensure the security of its airspace.
Ukraine’s State Emergency Service announced that energy facilities in Chernihiv and surrounding areas were also targeted. The fires caused by the impacts were quickly contained and no casualties were reported.

Are today’s attacks a sign of Russia’s reluctance to the American peace plan?
The attacks come as Washington pushes forward with a diplomatic plan to end the war — a proposal that worries Kiev about offering major concessions to Moscow.
Ukrainian and American officials are going to hold talks in Miami today for the third day in a row. Washington has said both sides agree that any “real progress” will depend on Russia’s willingness to end the war.
The Miami meetings follow a recent visit by US officials to Moscow, where US President Donald Trump’s chief negotiator Steve Wittkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner met with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the US plan. The Kremlin rejected parts of the proposal.
Washington’s initial draft, drawn up without the involvement of its European partners, reportedly included Kiev’s withdrawal from parts of Donetsk and US recognition of Russian control over Donetsk, Luhansk and Crimea.
This plan also included limiting the number of Ukrainian military forces and waiving its desire to join NATO. Parts of the plan have been revised, although it has not been announced what changes have been made.
