Consultation between the foreign ministers of Egypt and Russia about Iran’s nuclear case
The senior diplomats of Egypt and Russia discussed regional and international issues, including Iran’s nuclear issue.
According to Isna, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry announced on Friday that the country’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati had a telephone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
This call took place in the framework of regular consultations between the two countries about bilateral relations and regional and international issues.
According to the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, the two sides emphasized the importance of strategic relations and strong partnership between Cairo and Moscow.
While pointing to the existing cooperation, the Egyptian Foreign Minister emphasized the necessity of continuing joint efforts to advance current projects, including the Al-Dabaa nuclear power plant; A project that, according to him, can help expand Russian investments in Egypt and strengthen economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries.
This call was also devoted to the review of developments in Gaza. Abdul Ati emphasized the necessity of implementing Security Council Resolution 2803 and advancing the second phase of the US peace plan and called for strengthening the role of international deployment forces to stabilize the ceasefire.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister went on to discuss the situation in Sudan and explained Cairo’s efforts within the framework of the “quadrilateral mechanism” to stop conflicts and maintain the unity and territorial integrity of Sudan.
The two ministers also discussed Lebanon and Syria. Abdul Ati emphasized Egypt’s support for the unity, sovereignty and stability of Lebanon and once again called for respect for the territorial integrity of Syria and avoiding any action or interference that threatens the stability of this country.
He also emphasized the necessity of starting a comprehensive political process in Syria that responds to the people’s demands.
In another part of the conversation, the two sides discussed Iran’s nuclear issue. The Egyptian Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to reduce tension, build trust and provide conditions to reach a comprehensive agreement regarding Iran’s nuclear program; An agreement that takes into account the interests of all parties and contributes to regional security and stability.
