The formation of Centcom’s suicide drone unit by copying the Iranian design
Centcom announced the formation of the first unit of low-cost suicide drones based on the Iranian design in the framework of the formation of a new task force to be deployed in West Asia.
According to RCO News Agency, the United States Central Command (Centcom terrorist organization) announced on Wednesday the formation of a new task force for the first suicide drone unit of the US Army, which is based in West Asia.
Centcom announced in a statement published on its official social media pages that it launched Task Force Scorpion (TFSS) four months after Secretary of War Pete Hegst ordered to accelerate the procurement and deployment of cost-effective drone technologies.
According to Centcom’s statement, this task force is designed to quickly provide the military with low-cost and effective drone capabilities.
This new task force now includes a unit of Low-Cost Unmanned Combat System (LUCAS) drones currently deployed in West Asia.
Lucas UAVs deployed by Centcom have a wide range and are designed for autonomous operation. They can be launched by a variety of mechanisms, including catapults, rocket-assisted launches, mobile ground systems, and vehicles.
“This new task force provides the basis for using innovation as a deterrent,” said Adm. Brad Cooper, CENTCOM commander.
He also claimed: “Faster equipping our forces with advanced drone capabilities demonstrates America’s innovation and military prowess as a deterrent against malicious actors.”
In September, Centcom launched the Rapid Employment Joint Task Force (RAJTF), led by its chief technology officer, to accelerate the process of equipping deployed forces with emerging capabilities.
This joint task force coordinates innovation activities among service departments in three areas: capability, software, and technology diplomacy.
The activities of this joint task force to build a squadron of suicide drones are led by the staff of the Central Special Operations Command.
Previously, the Pentagon had unveiled copies of Iran’s “Shahed-136” drone.
