White House: Trump has several options regarding Venezuela
While confirming the News of the US President’s meeting focusing on Venezuela, the spokesperson of the White House said that there are several options regarding this Latin American country.
According to Isna, White House spokesperson Carolyn Levitt said during a briefing on Monday evening: “I confirm that the President of the United States, Donald Trump, will have a meeting with his national security team on the issue of Venezuela and many other issues.”
According to Fox News, the White House spokesman emphasized: “The President of the United States often meets with his national security team. “He is the commander-in-chief and part of his responsibility is to make sure there is peace around the world.”
However, he refused to divulge the details of the meeting.
Earlier, “CNN” news TV, citing informed sources, reported: “Donald Trump will hold a meeting on Monday evening (Washington time) at the White House about the next steps regarding Venezuela.”
Key members of Trump’s cabinet and national security team, including Secretary of War Pete Hegst, Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Kaine, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as well as White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and Deputy Chief of Staff Steven Miller, are expected to attend the meeting.
The meeting will be held at 5:00 PM EST in the Oval Office of the White House.
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has repeatedly stated that the increase in US military presence in the region is aimed at his “overthrow” and has denied the US accusation of “connections with drug traffickers and criminal groups”.
The issue of Afghan immigrants in the United States
In another part of her statement, Carolyn Levitt said: “The President of the United States is actively investigating all Afghan nationals who entered the United States during the presidency of former President Joe Biden, and all those deemed a threat to national security will face deportation.”
On Saturday, Marco Rubio announced that the United States has suspended visas for all Afghan passport holders following the recent shooting of two National Guard soldiers in Washington, allegedly by an “Afghan national.”
“The Trump administration is now actively re-examining all Afghans brought into the country by Joe Biden,” Levitt emphasized. Anyone who threatens the United States or our citizens will be subject to deportation. “President Trump has already permanently suspended the immigration of foreign nationals from third world countries who pose a very high risk to the United States.”
Ukraine war
Referring to the war in Ukraine, the White House spokesman said: “The Trump administration has been very optimistic in the midst of the Ukraine peace talks, and the United States at the same time hopes that the war in Ukraine will finally end.”
Carolyn Levitt added: “I think the government is very optimistic. “Obviously, you can see that the president’s team, including Steve Witkoff, the special envoy of the president, Marco Rubio, the secretary of state, JD Vance, the vice president, as well as Pete Hegst, the secretary of war, have been working hard on this issue, and they all really want this war to end.”
Levitt also announced Witkoff’s upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
He stated about the corruption case in Ukraine: “President Trump has clearly stated that corruption has never been useful and he does not want to see the abuse of American tax dollars.”
